Winner of the prestigious 2021 Prix Clara Haskil as well as the Audience Award and Children’s Corner Award, the brilliant young pianist Yumeka Nakagawa was born in Düsseldorf, Germany in 2001 and started playing the piano at the age of 4. In her early days, she was a student at the “Robert Schumann Hochschule” in Düsseldorf where she studied under the tutelage of Prof. Barbara Szczepanska and continued as a student of Prof. William Fong at the Purcell School in England. Since April 2021 she has been studying in the class of Prof. Grigory Gruzman at the “Franz Liszt Hochschule für Musik” in Weimar.

Yumeka Nakagawa is a prize winner of numerous international piano competitions, such as Steinway Competition in Hamburg, Franz Liszt Competition in Weimar, Jenö Takács Competition in Oberschützen and Robert Schumann Competition in Düsseldorf. As a soloist, she has already performed with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra under conductor Zoi Tsokanou in Tonhalle Düsseldorf and the Jenaer Symphony Orchestra under conductor Markus L. Frank in Congress Centrum Weimarhalle.

As part of her prize winning the 2021 Concours International de Piano Clara Haskil, Yumeka Nakagawa is invited to perform a solo recital in the inaugural edition of Vevey Spring Classic festival. The Association Concours Clara Haskil and Vevey Spring Classic festival are artistic partners.
