Vladimir Babeshko, born in Kazan in the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia, is an award-winning violist who frequently performs as a soloist and chamber musician around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recent highlights include a world tour with Anne-Sophie Mutter, Ye-Eun Choi and Daniel M\u00fcller-Schott featuring works of Beethoven and J\u00f6rg Widmann\u2019s Sixth String Quartet, Study on Beethoven. In addition to the world premiere in Suntory Hall (Tokyo), he performed numerous in halls such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. Due to the coronavirus crisis several concerts have been rescheduled, and he will perform this program again in Carnegie Hall in New York in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a soloist, Mr. Babeshko will make his debut with the Vienna Philharmonic during the Mozart Week in Salzburg performing the Sinfonia Concertante with Anne-Sophie Mutter under the baton of Robin Ticciati in the 2021\/2022 season. He has been featured as a soloist with many other orchestras, including the world premiere of Pierre-Dominique Ponnelle’s viola concerto, which was composed for him, with the Kurpf\u00e4lzisches Kammerorchester in Mannheim in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Babeshko enjoys regular chamber music engagements with artists such as Anne-Sophie Mutter, Christoph Eschenbach, Gidon Kremer, Daniel-M\u00fcller Schott, Gary Hoffman, Lynn Harrell, Lambert Orkis, Ksenia Bashmet and the Henschel Quartet. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals such as the Lockenhaus Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Rheingau Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, Next Generation, Oberstdorfer Musiksommer, Chelsea Music Festival, and Rio Music Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From 2009 to 2018 he was hand-selected by his long-term mentor, Anne-Sophie Mutter, to receive scholarships from her foundation. Since 2011 he performs as a regular member of her soloist ensemble, \u201cMutter\u2019s Virtuosi,\u201d with concerts throughout Europe, North and South America, and Asia, and since September of 2018 he has been the principal violist of the Belgian National Orchestra in Brussels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vladimir Babeshko plays a viola by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume from 1870, which the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation has made available to him as a long-term loan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
